Setting and tracking goals

SilverCloud is an online course to help manage stress, anxiety and depression. Users work through a series of topics selected by a therapist to address specific needs.

Users can set and track goals within the app. Some are set by SilverCloud automatically, like ‘Start programme’ and then people can add their own.

Users can set overall goals and break down tasks underneath each.

A visual shows overall progress against goals, and a checklist shows whether each task has been completed.

Key guidance

It’s helpful to offer some predefined goals to get people started with something to aim towards.

Try to provide ways to break goals down into manageable steps.

Give a way to track progress and celebrate successes. Think about the communication channels you might use to do this and how you could make this visual.

  • People might encounter feelings of disappointment if they aren’t reaching their goals. This is why it’s really important to create small manageable steps and celebrate the small wins.
