Messaging and getting support from other young people

Childline provides message boards where users can share experiences and get support from other young people in similar situations.
Key guidance
Respect users’ confidentiality by being clear about how their messages will appear once published on the message board and which of their personal information will be shared (e.g. username).
Ensure anonymity by letting users choose their usernames.
Ask users for feedback and ideas to continue improving your service and be aware of any issues quickly.
Try to co-produce some shared guidelines for the space or a Code of Conduct that will help users to feel safe and comfortable.
Risks
If your service doesn’t provide any moderation, make sure to tell users so they know why they shouldn’t be using any personal information or specific locations.
